Najmun Riyaz, M.D. was born and raised in Srinagar, Kashmir. She now works as a full-time psychiatrist and lives in New Jersey with her husband, children, mother, and cat. Her three children, who she raises in America in a time of widespread Islamophobia, inspired her to write this book. She shares the story of Eid with her childrens’ classmates every year. Her son’s fourth grade teacher Mrs. Margaret McKee, and all the children in the class at Moorestown Friends School, also inspired her to turn this cultural tale into a book. Najmun loves spending quality time with her family and writing memoirs
